Hepato-Gastro-Enterology

This is the specialty that takes care of the diseases of the digestive system that begins with the oesaphagus (back of the throat) and ends with the anus; that is, most digestive and abdominal diseases. Most diagnostic and therapeutic acts are carried out at the Clinique Générale.

Diagnosis

• Gastroscopy: Examination of the stomach allowing the diagnosis of this organ's diseases : for ex. ulcer / hiatius hernia / gastritis / stomach and oesophagus cancers.
• Colonoscopy: Examination of the intestine requiring preparation and mostly, but not necessarily, carried out under light sedation. One is looking for an inflammation, diverticuli, and above all for polyps and cancer (one of the most frequent cancers that can be healed if discovered early enough, hence the relevance of the colonoscopy).
• Retrograde cannulation of the papilla: allows the study of the bile ducts and of the pancreas.
• Liver puncture: Examination for the diagnosis of liver diseases.

• Ablation of stomach and colon polyps
• Ligature of the oesophageal varicose veins
• Digestive hemorrhage arrest
• Evacuation of the bile duct calculus by retrograde cannulation of the papilla with sphincterotomy
• Bile duct prosthesis
• Installation of stomach bags in the treatment of obesity
• Colon prosthesis (in case of a stricture)
• Treatment under local anaesthesia of anal diseases (hemorrhoids, benignant tumors, condylomas)
