Cancerolgy

Unit

"The man or the woman suffering from cancer at the heart of care", an ambition that seems so natural but is sometimes so difficult to achieve.

This is the clinic's project, widely shared by our teams. The patient is confronted with a serious illness and can experience global suffering. Although considerable progress has been made in the biomedical, social and psychological fields, including a real development of competences combining technicity and care, we feel that the questions of support and of the meaning of life are also essential.

We also find these questions in our therapeutic conducts of evolutive cancers through difficult ethical questionings in which both respect for the patient and his interrogations, and the contribution of our competences, to be adapted to the closest to each patient, are essential.

The optimum quality of care within our area, for all those trusting us with the treatment of their cancer, follows the guidelines given by the new circular on the organisation of care in cancerology units. This circular establishes the qualitative aspects of the treatment as a whole, in line with the Cancer Plan.

It outlines our position within the Centre for Coordination of Cancerology of the Haute Savoie territory, and within the framework of the Convergence of the Rhônes-Alpes Regional Cancerology Network (Concorde, Oncora, Réseau de l’arc Alpin). Especially for:

  • The application of therapeutic referentials,

  • The use of communication tools and the secure exchange of patient medical data,

  • The Announcement Plan and the Personalised Care Program,

  • The Training of Care Professionals,

  • The Evaluation of Professional Practice,

  • The recourse to Meetings of Pluridisciplinary Regional Concertation.

The Clinic's vocation is to work within a network including patient associations, healthcare networks, nursing staff and home care.

Pluridisciplinary Concertation

All patient cases are systematically discussed in a Cancerology Pluridisciplinary Concertation Meeting. This meeting brings together surgeons, organ specialists,  anatomopathologists, radiologists, nuclear physicians, radiotherapists and oncologists.

Skills & Technical platforms

The cancerology centre is made up of the units of diagnosis, screening, therapeutic activities (oncologic surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy), of supportive care and palliative care.

Hospitalization unit for palliative care

The Clinic has identifiable palliative care beds available within the medicine unit.

The Committee for the relief of pain (CLUD), consisting of physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers and dietitians, is collaboratively in charge of the quality and coordination of pain management and palliative care.
