Course of the Heart 2009
On 28 and 29 March, the French Federation of Cardiology held throughout France the 34th edition of the Course of the Heart.
It is a major event whose main purpose is to promote physical activity as an effective means of preventing cardiovascular disease.
Their ambition is that each person can engage in regular physical activity! This "habit" helps protect the heart and thus reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
For 2009, the French Federation of Cardiology has retained as slogan of the Course of the Heart:
" Move your heart! "
For this event, at the initiative of cardiologists, the "Clinique Générale", the "Clinique d'Argonay" and the "Centre Hospitalier d'Annecy" wish, through its health professionals, mobilize for the journey of the heart 2009!
This event will take place on saturday 28 March 2009 at "Centre Bonlieu" and at "Pâquier" from 13.00 to 18.00.
Several entertainments and information booths will be offered, some driven by Cardiologists of the concerned health centers.

New angiology medical practice
The group of angiologists of Annecy offers consultations in vascular medicine (arterial and venous echo-doppler, varices) every morning from 9.00 to 12.00.

A new parking
at the Clinique Générale
After 18 months of work and just one year after the laying of the foundation stone, the new parkings made in the context of a partnership between the General Clinic and the city of Annecy are open since September 3, 2007. The inauguration will take place in October 2007.
For users
The patients, consultants and other users of the clinic can now benefit from a carpark of 228 seats which is managed by the municipality.
This public parking is built on three levels that are easily identifiable by the mean of colored signalization: red, green and blue. These levels are reachable using three pedestrian access directly attached to the clinic. As in all car parks in the city of Annecy, the first half hour of parking is free.
For professionals
In air and on part of the 3rd level, a private parking lot has been done to facilitate access and parking for professionals in the clinic, which includes 95 seats.
For persons with reduced mobility
The Clinique Générale has reserved easy access to persons with reduced mobility, ambulances, taxis, GIC and drop-off. Reserved parking seats have been materialized.
Support for a part of urban transport
In addition, a bus stop in front of the lobby of the clinic was built in partnership with the urban bus network "Sibra." The clinic is involved in the development of urban transport in supporting your "BACK" ticket upon presentation of the "GO" ticket.
And soon...
In a second phase, the underground parking of the Castle will also be used for medical purposes. The radiology technical platform will be moved to the 1st level this parking and the current equipment will be completed with a scanner. A new entrance for emergencies will also be installed.
Additional comfort patients
Since summer 2007, safes have been installed in each hospitalization room and also in the maternity, in order to improve the quality of service provided to patients. |

Current Events, Course and Congress
Annecy General Clinic, thanks to its innovative and performed surgeons in bringing modern knowledge and technology to patients, has encouraged and developed a national and international knowledge and technology broadcasting by means of the organisation of frequent courses and congresses.
The success of these courses and congresses is the witness of our medico-surgical quality and dynamism.
"Annecy Live Surgery International Shoulder Advanced" Congress 2005 and 2007
Organised by Laurent Lafosse with the assistance of Bruno Toussaint, Jérôme Bahurel, and international surgeons the most famous in shoulder field, this congress where all the surgical operations were retransmitted from the General Clinic to the Imperial Palace has been a world first made.
The two first congresses which took place on the same modal in June 2005 and June 2007 have welcome a huge success thanks to the 600 participants came from 37 different countries.
Shoulder Surgical Course
Every year and for 10 years, under Laurent Lafosse’s imagination, more than 50 international surgeons use to attend 5 arthroscopy and prosthesis lessons during 3 days with surgical operation broadcast leaded by 3 orthopaedists from higher level.

Locomotion Apparatus Course
In June 2006, the Clinic medico-surgical team (orthopaedists, anaesthetists, radiologists, physiotherapist surgeons) organised the first days of the Locomotion apparatus of the General Clinic with the collaboration of external orators performed in all fields, essentially physiotherapists but French and Swiss doctors and private and hospital doctors and surgeons. More than 300 people attended this event which met a multidisciplinary success. Six shoulder and knee surgical retransmissions were made by the Clinic orthopaedist surgeons.
Knee and Hip Surgery Course
Every year, Patrick SCHIFRINE, Christophe FORNASIERI and Thierry de POLIGNAC organise Knee Prosthesis and Hip Prosthesis courses with live surgical retransmissions and the participation of renowed surgeons.
The next course will be dedicated to ligementary knee surgery.
Anaesthesia Course
The Anaesthesia team, in collaboration with the Orthopedic Surgery team, organises a Regional Anaesthesia course every year.

SFA Arthroscopy Convention
In December 2000, the French Arthroscopy Society has given us the task to organise the annual convention under the direction of Laurent LAFOSSE. Over 500 surgeons have assisted at this convention, which included surgical retransmissions from the Clinique, at the Annecy Impérial Palace. The SFA organises its convention in a different city every year (except for Paris which takes its turn every 2 years). | |

The Clinique Générale in Figures
- 22 000 are taken into care every year at the Clinique of which 17 000 for surgical operations.
- Our radiotherapy unit delivers 75 sessions a day, which amount to almost 19 000 sessions a year.
- Our chemotherapy unit carries out aout 4 500 chemotherapy cures a year.
- 650 consultations are carried out every day inside the medical practices located at the Clinique Générale.
- 1 400 babies are born each year in our maternity.
- 430 members of staff ensure the good functioning of the clinic today (there were 226 in 1996).
